Materials:

* Oil drain container
* Funnel
* New automatic transmission oil pan filter (optional)
* New drain plug o-ring
* Key or wrench for unscrewing the drain plug

Steps:

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface: Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface. If possible, use a lift or jack to provide access to the underside of the vehicle.

2. Warm up the engine: Start the engine and let it idle for several minutes until the automatic transmission oil reaches operating temperature.

3. Locate the drain plug: The drain plug is usually located at the bottom of the automatic transmission radiator. It can be made of metal or plastic.

4. Place a container: Place a drain container under the drain hole.

5. Unscrew the drain plug: Using a wrench or wrench, carefully unscrew the drain plug. Be careful as hot oil may leak.

6. Allow oil to drain: Leave the drain plug open and allow the oil to drain into a container. This may take some time.

7. Replace the pan filter (optional): If you want to replace the automatic transmission pan filter at the same time, unscrew the pan bolts and remove the pan. Replace the old filter with a new one.

8. Clean the drain plug and O-ring: Clean the drain plug and O-ring with a clean cloth or paper towel. Remove any remaining old oil.

9. Install a new O-ring and drain plug: Apply some fresh transmission oil to the new O-ring. Install the O-ring on the drain plug and screw the plug back into the automatic transmission radiator.

10. Fill with new oil: Using a funnel, pour fresh transmission oil into the automatic transmission radiator. Consult your vehicle’s service manual to determine the correct amount of oil.

11. Check the oil level: Measure the oil level in the automatic transmission using a dipstick or through the overflow tube plug (depending on the design of the vehicle). Add oil if necessary.

12. Close the drain plug: Tighten the drain plug to the recommended torque.

Precautions:

* Make sure the engine is not too hot before removing the drain plug.
*Beware of hot oil when replacing the pan filter.
* Use only automatic transmission oil that meets your vehicle’s specifications.
* Change the transmission oil and filter regularly to extend the life of the automatic transmission.
