Materials required for draining oil from a Hyundai Solaris automatic transmission:

*Torx key T40
* Flat head screwdriver
* Container for collecting old oil (volume no less than 4 l)
* New gear oil (approx. 4 l)
* Automatic transmission filter and pan gasket (replacement if necessary)
* Funnel

Procedure:

1. Preparing the car

* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Let the engine idle for a few minutes to warm up the automatic transmission oil.

2. Access to the automatic transmission pan

* Locate the automatic transmission pan at the bottom of the vehicle.
* Clean the area around the pan of dirt and debris.

3. Drain the old oil

* Place a container to collect old oil under the automatic transmission pan.
*Using a T40 Torx wrench, unscrew the drain plug and remove it.
* Drain the oil into a container until it stops flowing out.

4. Removing the automatic transmission pan

*Using a flathead screwdriver, carefully pry the transmission pan around the edges to release it from the housing.
* Drain the remaining oil from the pan.

5. Replacing the automatic transmission filter (optional)

* If you are replacing the automatic transmission filter, remove the old gasket and filter.
* Install a new filter and gasket.

6. Installing a new pan gasket

* Remove the old gasket from the automatic transmission pan.
* Apply a thin layer of Sealant to the surface of the pan and automatic transmission housing.
* Install the new gasket in place.

7. Installing the automatic transmission pan

* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts by hand.
*Tighten the bolts using a wrench to the torque specified in your vehicle’s repair manual.

8. Installing the drain plug

* Install a new drain plug and tighten it to the torque specified in the repair manual.

9. Filling with new oil

* Open the hood and find the automatic transmission filler plug.
* Using a funnel, pour new oil into the automatic transmission.
*Add about 3 liters of oil.

10. Checking the oil level

* Start the engine and shift the automatic transmission selector to each position.
*Hold each position for a few seconds.
* Stop the engine and wait a few minutes.
* Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick.
*Add more oil if the level is below the MIN mark.

Note:

* Make sure to use the correct type of transmission oil as specified in the repair manual.
*If you are unsure of your mechanical skills, seek help from an auto mechanic.
* After draining the oil from the automatic transmission, you must reset the automatic transmission service counter in the engine control unit.
