Automatic transmission (AT):

* The gear selector has a linear or P-R-N-D-L pattern.
* Clutch pedal is missing.
* May have an additional lever to switch between sport and standard modes.

Robotic gearbox (robot):

* The gear selector has an H-shape or A-B-C pattern similar to a manual transmission.
* May have a clutch pedal or be fully automatic (no pedal).
* May include automatic shift functions, but has more noticeable shifts and pauses compared to an automatic transmission.

Visual differences:

* Gearbox selector: Linear automatic transmission selector, H-shaped or A-B-C robot selector.
* Clutch pedal: Absent on automatic transmissions, present on some robots.
* Accurator: Usually more on an automatic transmission than on a robot, due to the need to accommodate the torque converter.
* Control location: The automatic transmission control lever is usually located on the center console, while the robot selector can be either on the center console or on the floor.
* Transmission size and shape: Automatic transmissions are typically larger and more rounded than robotic transmissions.

Note:

The ability to connect the clutch pedal to an automatic transmission may vary depending on the vehicle manufacturer and model.
