Tools:
* Phillips screwdriver
* Hex key
* Flat head screwdriver (optional)
Steps:
1. Remove the handle cover:
*Press the plastic lock on the top of the handle and lift the cover.
2. Unscrew the screws:
*Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws that secure the knob to the selector.
3. Remove the handle:
* Gently pull the handle up to remove it from the selector.
4. Disconnect the cord (optional):
* If the handle is connected to a cord, press down on the plastic release and disconnect the cord.
5. Disassemble the cover:
*If you need to disassemble the cover, use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry and remove the button.
6. Remove the boot:
* Remove the rubber or leather boot located around the base of the handle.
7. Remove the button (optional):
*If the cover cannot be removed, use a hex wrench to unscrew the button.
8. Remove the retainer (optional):
*If there is a retainer holding the button in place, use a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew it.
Assembly:
Reassembling the automatic transmission selector knob is carried out in the reverse order:
1. Install a retainer (if applicable).
2. Install the button.
3. Put on the boot.
4. Connect the cord (if applicable).
5. Install the knob on the selector.
6. Tighten the screws.
7. Install the handle cover.
