Materials and tools:

* Set of ratchet wrenches
* Flat head and Phillips head screwdrivers
* Pliers
* Oil filter puller
* New automatic transmission filter and pan gasket
* New pan plug and washer
* Transmission fluid

Instructions for disassembling the automatic transmission:

Preparatory steps:

1. Put the car on the parking brake and block the wheels.
2. Let the engine cool and drain the transmission fluid from the automatic transmission.
3. Disconnect the battery by disconnecting the negative terminal.

Automatic transmission dismantling:

1. Disconnect external components: Disconnect the drive shaft, shift control cables, electrical connectors and vacuum hoses.
2. Loosen the bolts securing the automatic transmission to the engine: Find and loosen the bolts connecting the automatic transmission to the engine. DO NOT remove the bolts at this stage.
3. Support the automatic transmission with a transmission jack: Place the transmission jack under the automatic transmission for support.
4. Disconnect the automatic transmission pan: Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts, drain the remaining transmission fluid and remove the pan.
5. Check the condition of the automatic transmission filter: Remove and inspect the automatic transmission filter. If necessary, replace with a new one.
6. Loosen the remaining bolts securing the automatic transmission: Loosen all the remaining bolts securing the automatic transmission to the engine.
7. Carefully separate the automatic transmission from the engine: Slowly and carefully move the automatic transmission away from the engine. Use a spacer to prevent damage to components.
8. Remove the automatic transmission: Completely remove the automatic transmission from the vehicle.

Automatic transmission disassembly:

1. Unscrew the housing bolts: Find and unscrew the bolts connecting the two halves of the automatic transmission housing.
2. Separate the body: Carefully separate the two halves of the body.
3. Remove automatic transmission components: Remove the automatic transmission components, such as planetary gears, clutches and steel discs.
4. Check the condition of components: Inspect all components for wear or damage. Replace faulty parts if necessary.

Automatic transmission assembly:

1. Reassemble the automatic transmission: Reassemble the automatic transmission in the reverse order, installing new components if necessary.
2. Install the housing: Connect the two halves of the automatic transmission housing and tighten the bolts.
3. Install the automatic transmission: Lift the automatic transmission into place and connect it to the engine. Tighten the mounting bolts.
4. Install the automatic transmission pan: Install a new automatic transmission filter and pan gasket. Tighten the pan bolts.
5. Connect components: Connect the drive shaft, shift control cables, electrical connectors and vacuum hoses.
6. Fill with transmission fluid: Fill the automatic transmission with new transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
7. Connect the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Notes:

* Be careful when working with automatic transmission components, they are fragile and easily damaged.
*Use only the recommended transmission fluid for your vehicle.
*If you are unsure of your mechanical abilities, consult a qualified mechanic.
