Toyota automatic transmission diagnostics

Visual inspection:

* Check the transmission pan for leaks, deformation or damage.
* Inspect the condition of the transmission fluid. It should be red and free of impurities.

Diagnostics using a scanner:

* Connect the scanner to the OBD2 diagnostic connector.
* Read fault codes related to automatic transmission.
* Check real-time data such as transmission fluid temperature, line pressure and engine speed.
* Perform a solenoids test to check their functionality.

Driving:

* Drive the car and pay attention to the following signs of automatic transmission malfunction:
* Jerks or slipping when changing gears
*Hum, vibration or noise
* Difficult or delayed gear shifting
* Transmission fluid leaks
* Automatic transmission overheating

Mechanical check:

* Raise the car and start the engine.
* Shift the gear selector and check whether the driveshaft rotates.
* Check the integrity of the drives and their condition.
* Make sure there is no extraneous noise when the wheels rotate.

Electrical test:

* Check the automatic transmission solenoid and sensor connectors for corrosion or damage.
* Check the voltage and grounding at the automatic transmission connectors.
* Check the resistance and integrity of the automatic transmission wiring.

Other diagnostic methods:

*Checking the transmission fluid level: Check the fluid level with the engine warm and with the engine running.
*Transmission Fluid Analysis: Take a sample of the fluid and check for metal shavings, a burning odor, or cloudiness.
* Check Vacuum and Hydraulic Lines: Make sure there are no leaks or damage in the vacuum and hydraulic lines connected to the automatic transmission.

Note: The accuracy and reliability of diagnostics largely depend on the availability and correct use of the necessary equipment and the experience of the specialist.
