Materials:

* Wrench
* Screwdriver
* New automatic transmission filter
* Honda transmission fluid ATF-DW1
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* O-ring for automatic transmission pan

Instructions:

1. Safety first:

* Make sure the engine is turned off and the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
* Allow the engine to cool.

2. Raise the car:

*Use a lift or jacks to raise the front of the vehicle.
* Chock your vehicle for added safety.

3. Remove the crankcase protection:

* Locate the screws or bolts securing the crankcase guard.
* Loosen and remove them.
*Put the crankcase guard aside.

4. Drain the transmission fluid:

* Locate the automatic transmission fluid drain plug on the pan.
* Place the drain pan under the plug.
* Carefully loosen the plug and allow the fluid to drain.
* When the fluid stops draining, tighten the drain plug.

5. Remove the automatic transmission pan:

* Locate the bolts securing the transmission pan to the transmission housing.
* Loosen and remove the bolts.
* Carefully separate the pan from the automatic transmission housing.
* Be careful, remaining transmission fluid may spill out.

6. Replace the automatic transmission filter:

* Find and remove the old automatic transmission filter.
* Lubricate the new filter O-ring with transmission fluid.
* Reinstall the new filter.

7. Install the automatic transmission pan gasket:

* Clean the interface between the pan and the automatic transmission housing.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.

8. Install the automatic transmission pan:

* Carefully align the automatic transmission pan with the body.
* Install and tighten the pan mounting bolts.

9. Fill with transmission fluid:

* Using a funnel, pour Honda ATF-DW1 transmission fluid into the automatic transmission.
* Fill in approximately the same amount of liquid as was drained.

10. Check the fluid level:

* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear shift lever to each position and hold it for a few seconds.
* Return the gear shift lever to the park position.
* Pull out the automatic transmission fluid level dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
* Insert the dipstick back and pull it out again. The liquid must be in the “hot” zone.

11. Install the crankcase protection:

* Reinstall the crankcase protection.
* Tighten the screws or bolts.

12. Reset the fault code:

*If the automatic transmission fault light comes on, use an OBD2 scanner to reset the fault code.

Adviсe:

* Change the automatic transmission filter every 30,000-60,000 km.
* Use only genuine Honda ATF-DW1 transmission fluid.
*If you are unsure, consult a qualified mechanic.
