Method 1: Using a Diagnostic Tool
* Connect the diagnostic scanner (OBD2) to the vehicle’s OBD2 connector.
* Select the “Transmission” or similar option from the scanner menu.
* Find the “Automatic Transmission Temperature” parameter and read the reading.
Method 2: Manual check
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
*Place the gear shift lever in Park (P) position.
* Pull out the transmission fluid level dipstick.
* Touch the liquid with your finger or thermometer.
The temperature should be as follows:
*Normal operating temperature: about 75-95°C (167-203°F)
* Subheat: less than 50°C (122°F)
* Overheating: over 120°C (248°F)
Important Notes:
* Do not allow the engine to run at high speeds when checking the automatic transmission temperature.
*If the transmission temperature is too high or too low, this may indicate a need for service or repair.
* Do not forget about safety precautions when working with hot liquids and a running engine.
