1. Visual inspection

* Check for cracks, dents or other damage to the transmission housing.
* Check the tightness of all seals, including the oil pan gasket, pump housing cover and shaft seals.
* Look for signs of oil or transmission fluid leaks.

2. Component check

* Torque converter:
* Make sure the input shaft rotates freely in the torque converter hub.
* Check the condition of the torque converter shank and its seals.
*Gears:
* Check all gears for worn teeth, chips or cracks.
* Ensure that the gear bearings are in good condition and do not have excessive play.
* Shafts:
* Check all shafts for wear, scoring or chipping.
* Make sure the shafts rotate freely in their bearings.
*Oil pump:
* Check the condition of the oil pump gears and seals.
* Make sure the pump produces sufficient oil pressure.

3. Functional test

* Install the gearbox on a test stand (if available).
*Connect the gearbox to a power source and check its operation in various modes.
* Make sure that gears shift smoothly and without slipping or hesitation.
* Check that the transmission does not make unusual noises or vibrations.

4. Checking the automatic transmission fluid

*Check the automatic transmission fluid level and make sure it meets manufacturer specifications.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid for impurities or a burning smell.
* Replace automatic transmission fluid if necessary.

5. Additional considerations

* Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when checking a removed automatic transmission.
* Complex inspections may require the use of specialized equipment and technical knowledge.
*If you find any major damage, it may require professional repair or replacement.
