Materials:
* New Dexron VI gear oil (approx. 4 liters)
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Tool kit (wrenches, pliers, funnel)
* Lift or jacks and stands
Procedure:
1. Preparation:
* Place the vehicle on a lift or jack up all four wheels and place them on stands.
* Start the engine and warm up the gearbox.
* Turn off the engine and allow the transmission oil to drain back into the sump for 30 minutes.
2. Draining old oil:
* Find the automatic transmission pan drain plug.
* Place a pan underneath to collect the oil.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil into the pan.
3. Removing the pallet:
* Remove the bolts securing the pan to the gearbox.
* Gently tap the pan to release it from the transmission.
* Clean the tray and magnet from metal shavings.
4. Filter replacement:
*Remove the old oil filter.
* Install the new filter in its place.
5. Pallet installation:
* Apply a new gasket to the pan.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts.
6. Filling with new oil:
* Locate the filler plug on the transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler plug and fill in new transmission oil.
*Add about 3 liters of oil.
7. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it idle for 15 minutes.
* Switch the selector to all positions.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick. The level should be between the «hot» and «cold» marks on the dipstick.
*Add oil if necessary.
8. Completion:
* Tighten the filler plug.
* Lower the vehicle from the lift or remove it from the stands.
* Reset the automatic transmission service counter by following the instructions in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Notes:
*Always follow the instructions and recommendations in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
*Use only recommended gear oil.
*If you are unsure how to change your automatic transmission oil, consult a qualified mechanic.
* Regularly changing the automatic transmission oil will extend the life of the gearbox.
