Tools:

* Wrench set
* Flat head screwdriver
* New automatic transmission selector

Steps:

1. Disconnecting the battery terminal

* Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent the airbags from inadvertently deploying.

2. Removing the center console

* Remove the two screws at the bottom of the center console.
*Using a flathead screwdriver, pry up and remove the top of the center console.
* Disconnect the electrical connector from the hazard warning button.
* Remove the two screws on the back of the center console.
* Remove the center console.

3. Disconnecting the automatic transmission selector

* Locate the cable running from the automatic transmission selector to the transmission.
* Loosen the cable fastening nut.
* Disconnect the cable from the automatic transmission selector.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission selector to the floor.

4. Removing the automatic transmission selector

* Pull the automatic transmission selector upward slightly to disengage it from the latches.
* Remove the automatic transmission selector.

5. Installation of a new automatic transmission selector

* Insert the new automatic transmission selector into place, aligning the latches.
* Place the cable on the automatic transmission selector lever and tighten the fastening nut.
* Screw the bolts securing the automatic transmission selector to the floor.

6. Installing the center console

* Reinstall the center console.
* Attach two screws to the back of the console.
* Connect the electrical connector to the hazard warning button.
* Reinstall the top of the center console.
* Fasten the two screws at the bottom of the center console.

7. Battery connection

* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

8. Setting the automatic transmission selector

* Start the car engine.
* Set the automatic transmission selector to the “N” position.
* Make sure that the automatic transmission selector indicator on the instrument panel points to the «N» position.
* If the indicator does not indicate the “N” position, adjust the automatic transmission selector cable.

Helpful Tips:

* Before removing the old automatic transmission selector, make a note of its position in order to correctly install the new one.
* Check the automatic transmission selector cable for wear or damage. Replace the cable if necessary.
