Materials:
* New gear oil (see owner’s manual for recommended type and quantity)
* New transmission oil filter
* Drain plug with new gasket
* Oil pump or funnel with extended spout
* Tool set
* Gloves
* Rags
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Place the car on a level surface and set the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to warm up and idle for about 10 minutes to warm up the oil.
* Stop the engine and let the oil cool slightly.
2. Pumping out old oil:
* Locate the transmission drain plug on the crankcase. It is usually located at the bottom of the crankcase.
* Install an oil pump or funnel with an extended spout onto the drain plug and remove as much old oil as possible.
* Replace the drain plug with a new gasket and tighten it using a torque wrench to the recommended torque.
3. Removing the oil filter:
* Locate the transmission oil filter. It is usually located next to the transmission housing.
*Use a socket wrench or wrench to unscrew the oil filter cap.
* Remove the old oil filter and inspect it for metal shavings or other contaminants.
4. Installing a new oil filter:
* Apply a thin layer of new transmission oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter.
* Screw the new oil filter into the transmission housing by hand, then tighten it with a wrench to the manufacturer’s recommended torque.
5. Refilling with new oil:
* Locate the transmission filler plug. It is usually located at the top of the crankcase.
*Use an oil fill pump or funnel with an extended spout to pour new transmission oil into the transmission.
* Fill the transmission to the recommended level specified in the owner’s manual.
* Reinstall the filler plug and tighten it with a wrench.
6. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift the transmission into different positions and then return it to park.
*Use the oil dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks on the dipstick.
7. Testing and resetting the oil change counter:
* Drive the vehicle for a short period of time to pump in new oil.
* Stop the engine and check the oil level again using the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
*Some Audi models require the transmission oil change counter to be reset. Refer to your owner’s manual for specific instructions for your vehicle.
