Materials:
* Automatic transmission oil (see operating manual for specific model and type of fluid)
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Tool kit (ratchet, socket wrenches, hex wrench)
* Drain pan with a volume of at least 5 liters
* Funnel
Safety:
* Make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is set.
* Allow the engine and transmission to cool before starting work.
Procedure for changing automatic transmission oil:
1. Remove the automatic transmission pan:
* Locate the transmission pan at the bottom of the transmission.
* Unscrew the bolts holding the pan.
* Carefully remove the pan and drain the oil into the drain pan.
2. Replace the oil filter:
* Locate the automatic transmission oil filter, usually attached to the pan.
*Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.
3. Clean the tray and magnet:
* Clean the automatic transmission pan from oil residues and metal particles.
* Check the magnet for metal shavings. If there is a lot of it, it may indicate a problem within the transmission.
4. Install a new gasket:
* Clean the surface of the pan and the new gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
5. Install the automatic transmission pan:
* Carefully place the tray in place.
* Tighten the pan bolts in the order specified in the owner’s manual.
6. Fill with new oil:
* Install a funnel into the automatic transmission filler hole.
* Pour new automatic transmission oil into the transmission, following the recommendations in the owner’s manual.
7. Check the oil level:
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gearshift lever through all positions and return it to the park position.
* Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
8. Reset the automatic transmission service counter (if equipped):
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine how to reset the automatic transmission service counter, if equipped.
