Materials:
* New automatic transmission light bulb (usually T5)
Tools:
* Small flathead screwdriver
Steps:
1. Remove the control panel.
* Insert a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the panel and the center console.
* Carefully pry and remove the panel.
2. Find the automatic transmission illumination unit.
* Inspect the back of the control panel. The automatic transmission illumination unit is usually a small black housing with a connector.
3. Disconnect the unit connector.
*Press the connector lock and gently pull the connector to disconnect it from the unit.
4. Remove the old light bulb.
* Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry and remove the old bulb from its socket.
5. Install a new light bulb.
* Insert the new bulb into the socket, pressing it until it locks into place.
6. Connect the unit connector.
* Plug the unit’s connector back into its port on the back of the control panel. Press until you feel it lock.
7. Reinstall the control panel.
* Insert the control panel back onto the center console and push it until it locks into place.
8. Check the automatic transmission illumination.
* Turn on the ignition and switch the automatic transmission selector to different positions. Make sure the backlight is functioning properly.
