Gearbox braking method
1. Switch the selector to position «2».
This will shorten the gear ratio and increase engine braking force.
2. Switch to position «1».
If even more braking is required, switch to position «1». This will give maximum engine braking.
3. Operate the gas pedal.
When braking with the gearbox, you must simultaneously release the gas pedal. This will allow the engine to idle, which will create maximum braking force.
4. Be careful on slippery surfaces.
Transmission braking can cause loss of traction, especially on slippery surfaces such as snow or ice.
5. Avoid overuse.
Do not use the transmission brake frequently as this may damage the transmission.
Advantages:
* Increases the service life of brake pads.
* Reduces heating of the brake system.
* Allows better control of vehicle speed on steep descents.
Flaws:
* May cause loss of traction on slippery surfaces.
*Not suitable for emergency braking.
* May damage transmission if overused.
