Materials:

* Screwdriver set
* Pliers
* Support (eg wooden block)

Steps:

1. Prepare the car. Place the vehicle in park, set the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

2. Find the automatic transmission selector. The selector is usually located on the center console.

3. Disconnect the selector cover. Lift or slide the selector boot to expose the shift mechanism.

4. Find the adjusting nut. The adjusting nut is usually located at the bottom of the gear shift mechanism. It may have locking markings.

5. Loosen the adjusting nut. Use a screwdriver or pliers to loosen the nut. Do not unscrew it completely.

6. Set the selector to neutral position. Place a stopper in the opening between the selector lever and the dash panel to hold the selector in the neutral position.

7. Lower the gearshift lever to the park position. Make sure the lever moves easily and latches clearly into the park position.

8. Tighten the adjusting nut. Use a screwdriver or pliers to tighten the nut. Don’t over-tighten.

9. Check that the adjustment is correct. Remove the stop and try shifting the selector through all gears. It should move smoothly and clearly.

10. Tighten the locking marks. If there are locking marks, tighten them using a screwdriver or pliers. This will ensure the correct position of the adjusting nut.

11. Reinstall the selector cover. Press or snap the selector boot into place.

Adviсe:

*If you are not confident in your skills, it is better to contact a professional mechanic.
* Adjustment of the automatic transmission selector should be carried out only when necessary. Excessive adjustment may damage the gear shift mechanism.
*If adjustments do not correct shifting problems, further diagnosis or repair may be required.
