Instructions:
1. Set the vehicle’s parking brake: For safety.
2. Find the automatic transmission selector cable: It is usually located under the hood or near the transmission inside the car. This is the cable that connects the gear selector lever to the transmission.
3. Loosen the nuts: Use an open-end wrench or ratchet wrench to loosen the nuts that secure the shift cable to the shift lever or transmission.
4. Adjust the cable position: Move the selector cable and adjust its position so that gear shifting occurs smoothly and accurately.
5. Tighten the fastening nuts: After adjusting the position of the cable, tighten the fastening nuts to secure it.
6. Check selector travel: Move the gearshift lever to different positions to make sure it operates smoothly and accurately in all positions.
7. Adjust the side adjustment screw (if equipped): Some vehicle models have a side adjustment screw that allows you to fine-tune the selector travel. Adjust this screw as necessary to achieve smooth and precise shifting.
8. Lubricate Parts: Apply some lubricant to the selector cable and other moving parts to reduce friction and ensure smooth operation.
9. Check Transmission Fluid Level: It is recommended to check the transmission fluid level after adjusting the shift cable as changing the cable position may affect the fluid level.
