Warning:

* Before performing any work on the automatic transmission, read your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions and precautions.
*Working on automatic transmissions can be dangerous if not performed correctly. If you are unsure of your capabilities, it is recommended that you contact a mechanic.

Shift cable adjustment procedure:

1. Turn off the engine and let it cool.
2. Locate the shift cable. It usually connects the gear selector to the gearbox.
3. Clean the shift cable with carburetor cleaner.
4. Loosen the adjustment nut. This nut is usually located near the gearbox or on the cable itself.
5. Move the gear selector through all gears several times to ensure that the cable moves smoothly.
6. Push the gear lever into the Park position.
7. Place the key in the ignition and turn it to the «On» position, but do not start the engine.
8. Adjust the cable so that the gear selector pin fits completely into the adjuster hole on the gearbox.
9. Tighten the adjustment nut.
10. Start the engine and check the gear shift.

Procedure for adjusting fluid pressure:

1. Connect a pressure gauge to the fluid pressure solenoid port.
2. Start the engine and let it idle.
3. Check fluid pressure. It must correspond to that specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
4. If fluid pressure is low, tighten the shift cable.
5. If the fluid pressure is high, loosen the shift cable.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 until correct fluid pressure is achieved.

Adviсe:

*Check the transmission fluid level periodically and add fluid as needed.
* A shift cable that is too tight may cause difficulty shifting gears.
* A shift cable that is too loose may result in jerky shifting or incomplete gear engagement.
