Adaptation of automatic transmission Volkswagen Touareg

Required tools and materials:

* Diagnostic scanner VAG-COM or VCDS
* Computer
*USB or Bluetooth connection cable

Instructions:

1. Connecting a diagnostic scanner:

* Connect the diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle’s OBD-II diagnostic connector. It is usually located under the dashboard on the driver’s side.

2. Software installation:

* Install VAG-COM or VCDS software on your computer.

3. Reading control blocks:

* Launch the software and select ‘Auto-Scan’ or ‘Select Control Module’.
* Select transmission control unit (01 – Engine Electronics).

4. Group 006 – Adaptation:

* Click ‘Login’ and enter the access code to enter the control unit (usually 00000).
* Select ‘Adaptation’ -> ‘Group 006′.

5. Adaptation of switching points:

* Enter ’02’ in the ‘Channel’ field.
* Select ‘Save’ to start the switching point adaptation procedure. The process will take about 5-10 minutes.

6. Throttle adaptation:

* Return to group 006.
* Enter ’01’ in the ‘Channel’ field.
* Select ‘Test’ to start throttle adaptation. The process will take about 2-3 minutes.

7. Adaptation of gearbox clutches:

* Go back to group 006 again.
* Enter ’03’ in the ‘Channel’ field.
* Select ‘Save’ to start adapting the gearbox clutches. The process may take several minutes.

8. Reset adaptations:

* Return to group 006.
* Enter ’10’ in the ‘Channel’ field.
* Select ‘Save’ to reset all automatic transmission adaptations.

9. Completion:

* Close the software and turn off the diagnostic scanner.
* Get out of the car and close all doors.
* Leave the car for 10-15 minutes to complete the adaptation process.

Note:

* It is recommended to adapt the automatic transmission after repairing or replacing components related to the transmission.
* If the adaptation procedure does not complete successfully, contact a qualified mechanic.
