Adaptation of Toyota RAV4 automatic transmission
To adapt the gearbox you will need:
* OBD-II scanner or compatible diagnostic equipment
* Clean rag
* Battery power cable
Steps:
1. Connect the OBD-II scanner: Connect the scanner to the OBD-II connector in the car.
2. Turn the ignition on: Turn the ignition key to the ‘On’ position, but do not start the engine.
3. Select a diagnostic tool: From the scanner menu, select a transmission diagnostic tool (for example, ‘Transmission Diagnostics’ or ‘Transmission Settings’).
4. Select the adaptation function: This function is usually called ‘Transmission Adaptation’ or ‘Shift Tuning’.
5. Confirm adaptation: The scanner will ask for confirmation to start the adaptation process. Click ‘OK’ or ‘Yes’.
6. Depress the brake pedal: Depress the brake pedal fully and hold it for about 10 seconds.
7. Move the gear selector: Without releasing the brake pedal, move the gear selector to the following positions in the sequence shown:
– P (parking)
– R (reverse)
– N (neutral)
– D (drive)
– 2 (second gear)
– L (first gear)
– S (sport mode)
– Return to position P
8. Release the brake pedal: After completing the shift sequence, release the brake pedal.
9. Disconnect the scanner: Disconnect the OBD-II scanner from the vehicle.
10. Start the engine: Start the engine and check if the gears shift smoothly.
11. Repeat the procedure as necessary: In some cases, it may be necessary to repeat the adaptation procedure to ensure optimal transmission performance.
Note:
*Adaptation time may vary depending on RAV4 model.
* If you do not have an OBD-II scanner, contact a car service center where they can perform the adaptation procedure.
*Cleaning the throttle body or replacing the throttle position sensor may also require transmission adaptation.
