Adaptation of Volkswagen Touareg automatic transmission

Required tools and materials:

* VAG-COM (VCDS) or compatible diagnostic scanner
*Laptop or personal computer

Instructions:

1. Preparing the car:

* Make sure the engine is at operating temperature.
* Shift the transmission into Park (P) mode.

2. Connecting a diagnostic scanner:

* Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector (usually located under the dashboard or near the steering wheel).

3. Launching the software:

* Open VAG-COM software or compatible software.

4. Selecting an automatic transmission ECU:

* Select ‘Automatic transmission’ (or ’02 – Automatic transmission electronics’) from the list of control units.

5. Basic settings – Group 000:

* Go to group 000.
* Make sure that the ‘Default Setting’ and ‘Current Value’ values ​​are the same.

6. Gap adaptation – Group 084:

* Go to group 084.
* Click the ‘Open’ or ‘Start’ button.
* The onboarding process will start and finish automatically in a few minutes.

7. Adaptation of gear shift (optional) – Group 085:

* Go to group 085.
* Click the ‘Open’ or ‘Start’ button.
*Follow the on-screen instructions to adapt gear shifting.

8. Torque converter lock-up adaptation – Group 086:

* Go to group 086.
* Click the ‘Open’ or ‘Start’ button.
* The onboarding process will start and finish automatically in a few minutes.

9. Output from the automatic transmission ECU:

* Press the ‘Back’ or ‘Close’ button to exit the automatic transmission ECU.

10. Completing the process:

* Reset errors if any.
* Turn off the ignition and start the engine again.
* Check if the problem with the automatic transmission is resolved.

Notes:

* Automatic transmission adaptation is recommended when changing the transmission fluid, repairing the gearbox, or experiencing problems with shifting.
*Always use compatible diagnostic software and scanner recommended for your vehicle.
*The process may take some time, so be patient and do not interrupt the procedure.
*If you are unsure of any steps or have difficulty, consult a qualified mechanic.
