Materials:
* Scanner for Subaru cars (eg SSM4)
* Computer with Subaru software
*Transmission cooling system (eg radiator)
Step 1: Preparation
* Make sure the transmission is warm.
* Raise the car on a lift or using a jack and stands.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Connect the scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.
Step 2: Reset adaptation
* Using Subaru software, select the transmission module.
* Select the “Reset adaptation” option.
*Wait until the reset completes.
Step 3: Solenoid Training
* Open the coolant supply to the gearbox.
* Change the transmission temperature using the cooling system.
*Follow the software instructions to turn on the solenoids and check their operation.
*Perform this procedure for all solenoids in the transmission.
Step 4: Adaptation of the switching point
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift gears slowly from D to 1, allowing the car to stop between each shift.
*Repeat this process for several cycles.
* Complete the procedure by driving the vehicle several times in different road conditions.
Step 5: Test adaptation
* Use a scan tool to check the transmission adaptation values.
* Make sure the values are within the acceptable range.
Step 6: Completion
* Disconnect the scanner from the vehicle.
* Tighten the negative battery terminal.
* Lower the vehicle to the ground.
* Reset the adaptation mileage counter if present in the software.
Notes:
*Be sure to follow the software instructions carefully.
* Do not disconnect the battery during the procedure.
* Allow the gearbox to cool before performing adaptation.
*After adaptation, it may take some time for the transmission to fully adjust to the new driving style.
