Automatic transmission selector Lancer 9 (CVT)
The Lancer 9 automatic transmission has a CVT (continuously variable transmission) transmission type. The automatic transmission selector is located on the center console and controls the selection of various transmission modes.
Automatic transmission selector operation:
The automatic transmission selector is a lever that moves in different positions to select the desired mode. The lever is connected to a gear shift cable, which transmits movement to the transmission.
Selector positions:
* P (Parking) – Locks the wheels and holds the car in place. Used when parking or for a long time.
* N (Neutral) – Disconnects the transmission from the engine. The car can roll freely. Used when starting the engine, towing or for short stops.
* D (Drive) – The main mode of operation of the transmission. The transmission automatically selects the optimal gear ratio for various driving conditions.
* L (Low) – Ideal for slow driving or for increased torque when climbing grades or towing loads.
* S (Sport) – Maintains higher engine speeds, resulting in faster response and better acceleration dynamics.
* M (Manual Mode) – Allows you to manually select gears using the steering wheel shift paddles.
Selector lock:
* The automatic transmission selector has a lock button located next to it. The lock button must be pressed to move the selector from the “P” (park) position to another position. This is for safety reasons to prevent accidental gear shifting while driving.
* To release the selector lock, you must press the brake pedal.
Note:
* Always stop the vehicle completely and apply the parking brake before shifting the automatic transmission selector to the “P” (park) position.
* Do not switch the automatic transmission selector to the “R” (reverse) position while driving.
