The automatic transmission will not work if there is no oil in it. Oil serves to lubricate and cool transmission components and transmit power from the engine to the wheels. Without oil, the metal components of the transmission will quickly wear out and fail.

When the automatic transmission is running without oil:

* Reduced Lubrication: Without oil, transmission components such as gears, bearings and synchronizers will not be properly lubricated, leading to rapid wear and seizure.
* Temperature increase: Due to lack of lubrication, transmission components will begin to become very hot, which may cause them to burn and become damaged.
* No power transfer: Without power transfer from the engine to the wheels, the car will not be able to move. Transmission fluid is used to transmit this power.
* Part Damage: Without lubrication, the metal components of the transmission will rub against each other, causing severe wear and possible failure.
* Burning Smell: Excessive heat and wear will result in a burning smell, which indicates that the transmission is seriously damaged.

In some cases, the automatic transmission can run for a while without oil, but this will lead to serious and expensive damage. Therefore, it is extremely important to maintain an adequate oil level in the gearbox and check it regularly.
