How to warm up an automatic transmission

1. Start the car and let it idle for 2-3 minutes. This will allow the gearbox oil to warm up.

2. Switch the selector to D (Drive) mode and hold it there for 30 seconds. This will help the clutch engage and warm up.

3. Move away smoothly and pick up speed up to 40-50 km/h. Do not accelerate suddenly as this may cause wear to the transmission.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 several times:
– Move the selector back to P (parking) mode.
– Let the car idle for 30 seconds.
– Switch to D mode and hold for 30 seconds.

5. Gradually increase your driving speed. As the transmission warms up, you can begin to accelerate to normal speed.

Additionally:

* Do not warm up the transmission for too long at idle speed. This may cause the oil to overheat.
* While the car is warming up, you can clean the glass and mirrors, adjust the seat, or perform other small tasks.
* If you are in a hurry, you can skip the warm-up, but you should not drive or accelerate suddenly.
* At temperatures below -10°C, warm up the transmission for 5-7 minutes.
*If your vehicle is equipped with an electronic transmission, follow the manufacturer’s warm-up instructions.
