Oils used for flushing the automatic transmission:
* Special fluids for automatic transmission flushing:
* BG-44K Fluid Service Kit
* Transmission Flush Service Kit
* Liqui Moly ATF Cleaner
* Automatic transmission oils:
*Low viscosity oils such as Dexron III or Mercon V
* Detergent additives:
* Automotive detergent additives, e.g. Auto Rx
* Fuel system cleaner additives, such as Sea Foam TransTune
Washing procedure:
1. Warm up the engine and transmission: Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission, and then warm up the engine and transmission for 10-15 minutes.
2. Connect your vehicle to a washer: If you have an automatic transmission washer, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for connecting it to the transmission. If you don’t have a power washer, you can skip this step.
3. Add Flush Fluid: Pour fluid into the transmission through the dipstick hole or transmission coolant line.
4. Flushing: Start the engine and let it idle for 15-30 minutes. The washer will circulate fluid through the system, removing contaminants.
5. Drain the flushing fluid: Drain the flushing fluid through the transmission drain plug.
6. Replace the filter: Replace the automatic transmission filter with a new one.
7. Fill with new automatic transmission fluid: Fill the transmission with new automatic transmission fluid to the level indicated on the dipstick.
8. Check the fluid level: Check the automatic transmission fluid level after you have driven the car a few miles.
Note:
*Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using any cleaning solutions or additives.
* Flushing the automatic transmission can lead to deterioration of the transmission if it is not performed correctly.
*If you have any doubts or problems, consult a qualified mechanic.
