Steps:
1. Preparation:
* Make sure the transmission is warm.
* Gather all necessary materials and tools.
* Place the car on a level surface.
* Release the parking brake and move the gear lever to park.
2. Draining old oil:
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan.
* Place a container under the drain plug.
* Carefully unscrew the plug to drain the oil.
*Allow the oil to drain completely, this may take some time.
3. Replacing the oil pan gasket:
* After draining the oil, remove the old oil pan gasket.
* Apply new oil to the new gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the oil pan.
4. Installing the oil pan:
* Clean the surface of the transmission where the oil pan will be installed.
* Install the oil pan with a new gasket.
* Tighten the oil pan bolts to the required torque.
5. Filling with new oil:
* Locate the filler hole on the automatic transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler hole.
* Fill the required amount of Honda automatic transmission oil (ATF). Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the correct amount.
6. Checking the oil level:
* Start the engine and warm up the gearbox.
* Check the oil level by following the instructions in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
*You may need to use the dipstick to check the oil level.
7. Replacing the automatic transmission filter (optional):
*If you want to replace the automatic transmission filter, follow these steps:
* Remove the oil pan as described in step 3.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission filter.
*Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.
* Install the oil pan as described in step 4.
8. Resetting the oil aging counter:
*Some Honda Fit models are equipped with an oil aging counter that must be reset after an oil change. The reset can be done using an OBD2 scanner or following the instructions in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
