Required materials:
* Honda ATF DW-1 engine oil (approximately 5 liters)
* Automatic transmission oil pan filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Funnel with flexible hose
* 8mm hex key
* 10mm Allen key (long)
* 17mm socket wrench
* 19mm socket wrench
* Container for draining used oil
Procedure for changing automatic transmission oil:
1. Warm up the engine and gearbox. Drive the car briefly to warm up the oil and make it less viscous.
2. Stop the engine and set the parking brake. The car must be parked on a level surface.
3. Raise the car on a lift or jacks. Make sure the vehicle is securely supported on supports.
4. Find the automatic transmission drain bolt. It is usually located on the automatic transmission oil pan.
5. Place a container to drain the oil under the drain bolt.
6. Using a 17mm socket wrench, loosen the drain bolt. Be careful as oil may spill out under pressure.
7. Allow the oil to drain completely into the container. This may take a few minutes.
8. Tighten the drain bolt. Install a new copper or aluminum washer under the bolt.
9. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Using a 10mm hex wrench, unscrew the transmission pan mounting bolts. The pan may require a little tapping with a rubber hammer to release it from the transmission housing.
10. Replace the automatic transmission pan oil filter. A new filter usually comes with a gasket.
11. Clean the surface of the automatic transmission housing and automatic transmission pan. Remove any remaining old oil or debris.
12. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket. Make sure the gasket is positioned correctly and is not jammed.
13. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan. Tighten the pan mounting bolts using a 10mm hex wrench.
14. Fill the automatic transmission with new oil through the dipstick hole. Use a funnel with a flexible hose to direct the oil into the dipstick hole.
15. Start the engine and allow it to warm up. Shift between all gears periodically to pump new oil through the system.
16. Check the automatic transmission oil level using a dipstick. Add oil as needed to bring it to the recommended level.
17. Reset the automatic transmission oil change counter. Using a diagnostic scanner or following the procedure specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Note:
* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil every 30,000-60,000 kilometers.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level on a regular basis and add oil if necessary.
*Use only Honda recommended ATF DW-1 for your vehicle model.
* Dispose of all used oil in accordance with local environmental regulations.
