Heat exchanger automatic transmission Nissan Almera G15
Purpose:
The automatic transmission heat exchanger is designed to cool the transmission fluid (ATF) and maintain its operating temperature.
Location:
The automatic transmission heat exchanger is located at the bottom of the engine cooling radiator. It is a small radiator that is attached to the main radiator.
Design:
The heat exchanger consists of:
* Thin metal plates through which transmission fluid passes.
* Pipes through which engine coolant passes.
When transmission fluid gets too hot, it passes through the heat exchanger plates, releasing heat to the coolant. The coolant, in turn, removes heat through the engine cooling radiator.
Operation:
When the engine is running, transmission fluid circulates through the torque converter, transmission, and other automatic transmission components. When power is transferred, heat is generated, warming the transmission fluid.
The hot transmission fluid is directed through a heat exchanger where it is cooled by exchanging thermal energy with the engine coolant. The cooled transmission fluid is then returned to the automatic transmission.
Service:
The automatic transmission heat exchanger is an important component of the transmission cooling system. To ensure its proper operation, it is recommended:
* Regularly check the level and condition of the transmission fluid.
* Change the transmission fluid and filter in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Clean the heat exchanger from debris and dirt.
*Consult a qualified mechanic if you have any problems with the automatic transmission cooling.
