Adjusting the brake band of automatic transmission GF4A
Tools and materials:
* Tool set
* 8mm head
* Torque wrench
* Stop wire 0.8mm
* New O-ring for band adjustment cover
Steps:
1. Remove the gearbox housing.
2. Check the ATF fluid level. Add if necessary.
3. Remove the belt adjustment cover. Located on the right side of the transmission under the crankcase cover.
4. Loosen the locknut.
5. Insert the hex key into the adjustment screw.
6. Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise until you feel resistance.
7. Tighten the adjustment screw to 4 Nm (0.4 kgf-m).
8. Tighten the locknut.
9. Install a new gasket on the belt adjustment cover.
10. Install the belt adjustment cover onto the transmission.
11. Install the gearbox housing.
Checking the adjustment:
1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
2. Check gear shifting. It should be smooth and without slipping.
3. If shifting is hard or slipping, adjust the band a little more.
Important:
* Make sure the adjustment screw is tightened to the correct torque.
* Use a new gasket when installing the belt adjustment cover.
* Check the ATF fluid level after completing the adjustment.
