Required materials:
* New Ford Mercon LV gear oil (approx. 4 liters)
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Drain plug O-ring
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Funnel
* Set of keys and sockets
* Lift or jack and supports
* Rags or gloves

1. Raise the car. Place the car on a lift or jack it up and secure it on stands.
2. Warm up the engine. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to allow the transmission oil to warm up and become thinner.
3. Open the drain plug. Place a container under the drain hole. Using a wrench or socket, loosen and remove the drain plug.
4. Drain the old oil. Wait until all the old oil has drained into the container.
5. Replace the drain plug and O-ring. Install a new drain plug and tighten it using a wrench or socket. Make sure the new O-ring is installed correctly.
6. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Remove the bolts or screws securing the automatic transmission pan to the transmission housing. Carefully separate the pan from the housing and drain the remaining oil.
7. Replace the automatic transmission oil filter. Locate the oil filter and remove it. Install the new filter in the same position.
8. Clean the automatic transmission pan and install a new gasket. Clean the automatic transmission pan from the remains of the old gasket and debris. Install a new gasket on the pan and screw it to the transmission housing.
9. Fill with new oil. Using a funnel, pour new transmission oil into the automatic transmission. Fill the oil slowly, checking the level with the dipstick.
10. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up and distribute the oil. Check the oil level on the dipstick and add if necessary.
11. Reset the oil change counter. Refer to your owner’s manual for the procedure to reset the oil change counter.
12. Lower the vehicle. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands or jack.
Adviсe:
* It is recommended to change automatic transmission oil every 60,000 – 90,000 km.
* Use only transmission oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
* Do not over-tighten the drain plug and pan bolts to avoid damaging the threads.
* If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to have the automatic transmission oil changed by a qualified mechanic.
