Materials and tools:

* New automatic transmission filter
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
* Automatic transmission valve body gasket
* Set of sockets and wrenches
* Rags
* Brake cleaner
* Magnetic tray for collecting metal particles

Safety:

* Before starting work, make sure that the car is on the parking brake and has cooled down.
*Follow all safety instructions in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

1. Remove the automatic transmission pan:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the pan and drain the transmission fluid into the drain pan.
* Clean the pan of gasket residues and old transmission fluid.

2. Remove the automatic transmission valve body:
* Disconnect the hydraulic unit electrical connector.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the valve body to the automatic transmission housing.
* Carefully remove the valve body.

3. Wash the hydraulic unit:
* Soak the valve body in brake cleaner for a few minutes.
* Use compressed air to blow out all channels and valves of the valve body.
* Repeat this procedure until you are sure all dirt has been removed.

4. Install a new valve body gasket:
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the new valve body gasket.
* Install the gasket on the valve body.

5. Reinstall the valve body:
* Lubricate the valve body O-ring with transmission fluid.
* Carefully install the valve body into the automatic transmission housing.
* Tighten the bolts securing the valve body to the automatic transmission housing.

6. Connect the electrical connector:
* Connect the electrical connector to the valve body.

7. Replace the automatic transmission filter:
* Remove the old automatic transmission filter.
* Install the new filter and tighten the drain bolt.

8. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan:
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the seating surface of the automatic transmission pan.
* Install the pan and tighten the bolts.

9. Fill with new transmission fluid:
* Pour new transmission fluid into the automatic transmission through the filler plug. Check the fluid level with the dipstick and add as needed.

10. Reset transmission adaptations:
*Using a scanner or special equipment, reset transmission adaptations according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This is necessary for optimal operation of the automatic transmission.

Notes:

* Make sure all bolts and nuts are tightened to the recommended torque.
*Use only high quality transmission fluid recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
* If the valve body is heavily soiled or damaged, it must be replaced.
