Enabling emergency mode of Scania automatic transmission
Prerequisites:
* The automatic transmission operates in emergency mode when a malfunction occurs, for example, a malfunction of the solenoid or sensor.
* In emergency mode, the automatic transmission will only operate in third gear.
Emergency mode activation procedure:
1. Stop the car. Find a safe place where you can stop and park your car.
2. Turn off the engine. Turn the ignition key to the ‘Off’ position.
3. Wait 10 seconds. This will give the transmission’s electronic control unit (ECU) time to reset.
4. Turn on the ignition. Do not start the engine.
5. Press the brake pedal and accelerator pedal at the same time. Keep them pressed for 10 seconds.
6. Start the engine. If the emergency mode is activated successfully, the automatic transmission will only operate in third gear.
Turning off emergency mode:
1. Stop the car. Find a safe place to stop.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
6. Start the engine. Emergency mode must be disabled.
Note:
* If the emergency mode does not turn off, there may be a serious problem that will require the assistance of a qualified mechanic.
* Do not use the emergency mode for a long time, as this may cause further damage to the automatic transmission.
