Electrical wiring for a car trailer

Materials and components:

* Wire with a cross-section of at least 2.5 mm? for lighting and 6 mm? for charging the battery
* 7-pin connector (ISO 1724)
* Fuse box
* Relays and switches (optional)
* Sealed connectors
* Corrugated tube to protect wires

Wiring diagram:

Pin 1: Left turn light/side light
Pin 2: Right turn light/side light
Pin 3: Ground
Pin 4: Brake lights
Pin 5: Side lights
Pin 6: Battery charging (optional)
Pin 7: Reverse (optional)

Connection process:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Locate the trailer socket on the rear of the vehicle and remove the protective cap.
2. Prepare the trailer: Find a suitable location for the fuse and relay box on the trailer. Install them and connect the wires according to the diagram.
3. Connect the trailer socket: Connect the contact wires from the fuse box to the corresponding terminals on the 7-pin connector.
4. Install corrugated tubes: Protect the wires with corrugated tubes to prevent damage and water ingress.
5. Connect to vehicle: Insert the 7-pin connector into the trailer socket on the vehicle and tighten it.
6. Check operation: Turn on the vehicle’s ignition and check all lights on the trailer. Make sure they are working correctly.

Additional features:

* Relay: You can use a relay to power the battery charging or trailer tail lights.
* Switches: Switches can be added to control individual functions such as reverse power or battery charging.
*Additional Lighting: Additional lights such as fog lights or trunk lights can be installed.

Safety

* Use properly sized materials and components to ensure safe operation.
* Seal all connections to prevent water ingress.
