Objective: Diagnose and repair electrical systems in cars.
Responsibilities:
* Diagnostics of electronic systems:
* Use diagnostic tools to detect faults in vehicle electrical systems.
* Interpret diagnostic codes and find information on known problems.
* Electrical wiring repair:
* Elimination of short circuits, wire breaks and other electrical wiring faults.
* Replacement and repair of wiring, connectors and fuses.
* Maintenance of electrical components:
* Replacement and repair of generators, starters, batteries, lighting and other electrical components.
* Battery testing and maintenance, checking voltage and capacity.
* Installation and configuration of electrical equipment:
* Installation of additional equipment such as alarm systems, stereo systems and navigation devices.
* Configuration and programming of electronic control modules (ECU).
*Maintenance and Prevention:
* Regular inspection and maintenance of the vehicle’s electrical systems.
* Cleaning and lubricating contacts, checking the condition of wiring.
Requirements:
* Certificate of completion of a vocational school or college with a degree in Auto Electrician or equivalent experience.
* Excellent knowledge of electrical systems and vehicle electronics.
* Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment.
*Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
*Good fine motor skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and manuals.
* Electrical license (for some positions).
* Ability to work at a results-oriented pace.
Additional skills and certifications:
* ASE Certification in Automotive Electronics.
* Knowledge of specific makes and models of vehicles.
* Experience with hybrid or electric vehicles.
