Materials:

* Washing machine
*Standard electrical wire (14-2 AWG with ground)
* Electrical outlet with grounding
* Flat head screwdriver
* Phillips screwdriver
* Wire cutters

Instructions:

1. Security:

* Before starting work, turn off the power at the breaker or fuse panel.
* Check all wires and connections for damage.

2. Preparing the socket:

* Find a suitable location to install a grounded outlet.
*Cut a hole in the wall for the outlet according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Install the socket into the hole and secure it with screws.

3. Preparing the washing machine:

*Locate the power cord on the back of the washing machine.
* Provide enough free space for cable routing.

4. Connecting the power cable to the outlet:

* Strip about 6 inches of insulation from the end of the power cable.
*Wrap the bare copper wires counterclockwise around the matching colored terminals on the outlet.
* Tighten the screws on the terminals using a flat head screwdriver.

5. Connecting the ground cable:

* The ground cable is green or has striped insulation.
* Wrap it around the green screw on the socket.
* Tighten the screw using a flat head screwdriver.

6. Connection to switch panel (optional):

*If the outlet does not have its own switch, you must connect it to the breaker panel.
*Use wire of the correct gauge and marking with ground connection.
*Connect the black wire to the line terminal of the switch and the white wire to the neutral terminal.
* Connect the ground cable to the ground bus.

7. Testing:

* Turn on power at the breaker or fuse panel.
* Start the washing machine to check operation.
