Electric automatic transmission selector
The electric selector of the automatic transmission (automatic transmission) is used to select the operating mode of the vehicle’s transmission. It allows the driver to change gears without using a mechanical lever.
Components of the electric automatic transmission selector:
* Gear selector: This is the component that the driver uses to select the transmission mode (P, R, N, D, S, etc.).
* Transmission control module: This is an electronic component that receives signals from the gear selector and sends corresponding commands to the engine control unit (ECU) and the automatic transmission hydraulic unit.
* Solenoids: These are solenoid valves that control the flow of fluid into the automatic transmission, changing the gear ratio.
How does the electric automatic transmission selector work:
1. The driver moves the gear selector to the desired position.
2. The automatic transmission control module receives a signal from the gear selector.
3. The automatic transmission control module sends a command to the engine control unit to put the engine in the appropriate operating mode.
4. The automatic transmission control module also sends a command to the automatic transmission hydraulic unit to shift to the desired gear using the solenoids.
5. The automatic transmission switches to the operating mode selected by the driver, and the car reacts accordingly to the driver’s actions.
Advantages of an electric automatic transmission selector:
* Improved Comfort: The absence of a mechanical gear lever allows for more comfortable and smooth gear shifting.
* Ergonomic design: The electric selector is usually located on the center console, which is convenient for the driver.
*Additional features available: Some electric selectors may include additional features such as sport mode and manual shift mode.
* Increased safety: Electric selectors are often equipped with a locking system to prevent accidental engagement of the gear.
