Starting the engine
1. Insert the key into the ignition.
2. Depress the brake pedal.
3. Turn the key to the “ON” position, but do not start the engine. Wait until the engine light and other warning lights go off.
4. Turn the key to the “START” position and hold it until the engine starts. Release the key as soon as the engine starts.
Shifting gears
1. Press the brake pedal.
2. Move the gear selector to the desired position:
– P (Park): locks the transmission, used for parking.
– R (Reverse): Used to move backwards.
– N (Neutral): The transmission is disengaged and the engine is idling.
– D (Drive): Used for normal forward movement.
3. Release the brake pedal and press the gas pedal to start driving.
Braking
1. Press the brake pedal to slow down or stop the vehicle.
Parking
1. Press the brake pedal.
2. Move the gear selector to position “P”.
3. Pull the parking brake lever.
4. Turn off the engine by turning the key to the “OFF” position.
Automatic transmission control modes
Normal mode
* Standard mode for normal driving. Gear changes occur automatically depending on the speed and load on the engine.
Sports mode
* Provides higher revs before shifting, resulting in faster acceleration.
Eco mode
* Optimizes gear shifting for maximum fuel economy.
Manual shift modes (select models only)
* +/-: Located on the gear selector or steering wheel paddle shifters. Allows you to manually shift gears up and down.
* M: Manual shift mode. The gear selector must be moved forward and backward to shift up and down.
Important Tips
* Always depress the brake pedal before changing gears.
* Avoid sudden acceleration and braking.
* Maintain your automatic transmission regularly by changing the oil and filter.
