Replacing the automatic transmission drive oil seal Nissan Almera Classic
Required tools and materials:
* Set of keys
* Flat head screwdriver
* Oil seal remover
* New drive seal (right or left depending on drive location)
* Lubricant for oil seal
* Rags
Management:
1. Preparing the car
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Jacking and removing the wheel
* Using a jack, lift the front of the car from the side where the drive with the faulty seal is located.
* Remove the corresponding wheel.
3. Removing the caliper
* Remove the bolts securing the caliper to the knuckle.
* Remove the caliper and hang it on a wire or elastic band.
* Do not disconnect the brake hose.
4. Removing the brake disc
* Remove the bolts securing the brake disc to the hub.
* Remove the brake disc.
5. Removing the hub nut
* Using a socket wrench, loosen the hub nut. It will take a lot of strength.
*Do not remove the nut completely.
6. Knocking out the drive
*Locate the knockout hole on the hub.
* Install the knockout in the hole and hit it with a hammer to knock the drive out of the hub.
7. Removing the old oil seal
* Locate the old oil seal on the drive flange.
* Insert the oil seal puller into the oil seal and tap the handle with a hammer to remove the oil seal.
8. Installing a new oil seal
* Lubricate the inner and outer edges of the new oil seal.
* Insert the oil seal into the seat in the drive flange.
*Using a suitable mandrel or pipe, carefully tap the seal into place.
9. Drive installation
* Insert the drive back into the hub.
*Tighten the hub nut by hand if possible and then use a torque wrench to the torque recommended for your specific vehicle.
* Reinstall the brake disc.
10. Installation of the caliper
* Reinstall the caliper onto the knuckle.
* Tighten the caliper bolts.
11. Wheel installation
* Reinstall the wheel onto the hub.
*Tighten the wheel nuts by hand and then using a torque wrench to the torque recommended for your specific vehicle.
12. Lowering the car
* Lower the vehicle slowly.
13. Battery connection
*Connect the negative cable to the battery.
* Start the engine and check for leaks from the oil seal.
Adviсe:
* Clean all surfaces around the oil seal before installing a new one.
* Use original Nissan oil seal for replacement.
* If the drive is damaged or worn, it must also be replaced.
*If you don’t have a seal puller, you can use a flathead screwdriver, but be careful not to damage the seal or other components.
