Location of automatic transmission drain plug on Honda Civic 4D

1. Jack up the vehicle and place it on secure supports.
2. Find the automatic transmission housing. It is located at the bottom of the car, under the engine.
3. Identify the drain plug. This is a hexagon socket bolt located at the bottom of the automatic transmission housing. It is usually protected by a copper or aluminum washer.

Tools required to drain automatic transmission fluid:

* Hexagon 3/8″ or 10 mm
* Drain pan
* Rags

Procedure for draining automatic transmission fluid:

1. Place a drain pan under the drain plug. Make sure the pan is large enough to hold all the drainage fluid.
2. Place a rag around the drain plug. This will help prevent liquid spillage.
3. Unscrew the drain plug. Use a hex wrench to carefully unscrew the drain plug. Liquid will begin to flow out.
4. Let the liquid drain. Allow the liquid to drain completely into the pan. This may take some time, depending on the volume of fluid in the automatic transmission.
5. Clean the drain plug and washer. Clean the drain plug and washer of any dirt.
6. Place a new washer on the drain plug. A copper or aluminum washer will ensure a proper seal.
7. Reinstall the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug by hand, and then tighten it to about 29 Nm.
8. Remove the drain pan. Empty the drained fluid from the pan and dispose of it properly.

Note:

* Always replace the drain plug with a new one every time you drain the automatic transmission fluid.
* Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission after draining and, if necessary, add new fluid.
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific recommendations on draining automatic transmission fluid.
