Warming up the automatic transmission in summer is not necessary if the ambient temperature does not fall below 0°C.
The reason is that an automatic transmission has a built-in hydraulic system that uses fluid to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. This fluid circulates through the system and heats up while driving, so heating is not required in summer.
However, you can warm up the transmission a little if the car has been parked in the cold for a long time or if the ambient temperature is very low. To do this you should:
1. Start the engine.
2. Leave the car in “Parking” or “Neutral” mode.
3. Press the brake pedal.
4. Move the gear lever to the “Drive” position.
5. Wait a few minutes for the liquid to warm up.
This short warm-up will help reduce wear on transmission components and provide smoother gear shifts.
