Materials and tools:
* New automatic transmission oil (DEXRON III specification or higher, about 8 liters)
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* New automatic transmission pan o-ring
* Automatic transmission pan sealing plug
* Wrench with 10 and 17 mm heads
* Ratchet wrench
* Funnel
* Clean container for draining used oil
Instructions:
1. Preparation
* Warm up the engine and automatic transmission by driving the car for several kilometers.
* Turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
* Place the car on a lift or pit to provide access to the automatic transmission pan.
2. Draining used oil
* Unscrew the automatic transmission pan drain plug using a 17 mm wrench.
* Place a container to drain the oil and wait until all the oil has drained out.
* While the oil is draining, clean the drain plug and apply a new O-ring to it.
3. Removing the automatic transmission pan
* Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts using a 10 mm wrench.
* Carefully separate the pan from the automatic transmission housing and drain the remaining oil.
* Clean the pan and automatic transmission housing from old oil and dirt.
4. Replacing the oil filter
* Locate and remove the oil filter mounting bolts using a 10mm wrench.
*Remove the old filter and install a new one.
* Tighten the filter mounting bolts.
5. Installing the automatic transmission pan
* Apply a new gasket to the automatic transmission pan.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts using a 10 mm wrench.
6. Filling with new oil
* Using a funnel, pour approximately 4 liters of new oil into the automatic transmission.
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Measure the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick.
*Add more oil as necessary until the level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick.
7. Replacing the sealing plug
* Replace the old automatic transmission pan sealing plug with a new one.
*Tighten the plug by hand and then tighten it with a 17mm wrench.
8. Reset automatic transmission adaptations
* After changing the oil, it is necessary to reset the automatic transmission adaptations so that it shifts gears correctly.
*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions on resetting adaptations.
9. Checking the oil level
* Drive your car for several kilometers.
* Turn off the engine and let the automatic transmission cool for 10-15 minutes.
* Measure the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick.
*Add more oil as necessary until the level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick.
