Checking the oil level in the Citroen C4 automatic transmission
Tools and materials:
*Clean rag or paper towel
* Flat head screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Open the hood and locate the automatic transmission oil dipstick. It is usually colored red or yellow and has a loop at the end.
4. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the tube and insert it completely.
6. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level. The level should be between the “HOT” and “COLD” marks on the dipstick.
Notes:
* Check the gearbox oil level only when the engine is warm and on a level surface.
*If the oil level is too low, add oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* If the oil level is too high, drain the excess oil through the drain plug on the transmission pan.
*If the oil appears dark or has metal particles in it, there may be a problem with the transmission. Contact a qualified mechanic for diagnosis.
