Chrysler Voyager automatic transmission
The Chrysler Voyager automatic transmission has several generations and different options depending on the model and year of manufacture. The most common versions are given below:
4-speed automatic transmission 41TE
* Used in first generation Voyager (1989-1995)
* Design with three planetary gears and three clutches
*Hydraulic unit control controlled by Electronic Module (ECM)
4-speed automatic transmission A604
*Introduced with second generation Voyager (1996-2000)
* Improved version of 41TE with four clutches and Electronic Shift Control (ETS)
4-speed automatic transmission 42LE
* Used in third generation Voyager (2001-2007)
* An even more advanced version of the A604 with an improved gear shift algorithm and reduced fuel consumption
6-speed automatic transmission 62TE
*First appeared on fourth generation Voyager (2008-2016)
* Modern automatic transmission with six forward gears and one reverse
* Improved fuel efficiency, smooth shifting and wider ratio range
9-speed automatic transmission ZF 9HP48
* Offered with fifth generation Voyager (2020-present)
* The most modern automatic transmission, providing exceptional fuel efficiency, smooth gear shifting and an extended range of gear ratios
All Chrysler Voyager automatic transmissions are controlled by an electronic transmission control module (TCM), which interfaces with the ECM to optimize gear shifting based on driving conditions.
Chrysler Voyager automatic transmission modes
* P (park): Locks the transmission and disengages the vehicle.
* R (Reverse): Engages reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine, leaving the vehicle free to move.
* D (Drive): Normal driving mode that automatically changes gears.
*S (Sport): Holds gears longer for a sportier ride.
* M (Manual): Allows the driver to manually select gears using the steering wheel paddle shifters.
