Checking the oil level in an automatic transmission (automatic transmission) Chevrolet Lacetti

Materials:

* Automatic transmission dipstick
* Rags

Instructions:

1. Warm up the engine. Drive the vehicle for a short distance or let the engine idle for a few minutes to allow the transmission fluid to warm up.
2. Place the car on a level surface. Turn off the engine and put the car in park (P).
3. Remove the automatic transmission dipstick. The dipstick is located in the engine compartment, usually on the driver’s side. Pull it out of the tube.
4. Wipe the dipstick. Using a clean rag, wipe the dipstick to remove any remaining oil.
5. Insert the dipstick back into the tube. Insert the dipstick until it stops.
6. Remove the dipstick again. Pull the dipstick again and check the oil level.
7. Determine the oil level. There will be two marks on the dipstick: “HOT” (hot) and “COLD” (cold). The oil level should be between these marks when the engine is warm and idling.
8. Add oil if necessary. If the oil level is below the “COLD” mark, add special gear oil DEXRON-III or DEXRON-VI to the automatic transmission filler neck. Add oil in small portions and check the level periodically.
9. Place the dipstick back into the tube.

Note:

* Do not overfill the automatic transmission with oil. This may cause problems with gear shifting.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, especially after long trips or when towing a trailer.
*If you notice unusual oil leaks under your vehicle, contact a qualified mechanic.
