Steps to change the oil in a Chevrolet Epica automatic transmission:
1. Ensure safety: Place the vehicle on a lift or secure it on stands using a jack. It is necessary to ensure unobstructed access to the underbody of the vehicle.
2. Draining old oil: Place a container under the drain hole of the automatic transmission pan. Loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain into a container. Allow the oil to drain until it is completely drained.
3. Replacing the oil filter: After the oil has been drained, unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts and carefully remove the pan. Be careful as some oil may remain in the pan. Locate the oil filter inside the pan and replace it with a new one.
4. Cleaning the pan: Clean the automatic transmission pan and the magnet for collecting metal shavings from residual oil and debris. Make sure all channels and openings are clean.
5. Installing a new pan gasket: Apply a thin layer of sealant to the new pan gasket and install it on the automatic transmission pan.
6. Installing the automatic transmission pan: Place the automatic transmission pan in place and tighten the bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque according to your vehicle’s specifications.
7. Filling with new oil: Using a funnel, pour new DEXRON III oil into the automatic transmission filler hole. The amount of oil you add depends on your vehicle, so check your owner’s manual.
8. Checking the oil level: Start the engine and let it idle. Check the oil level in the automatic transmission through the filler hole using a dipstick or a special tool. If necessary, add oil to the required level.
9. Resetting the oil aging counter: After changing the oil, you must reset the oil aging counter in the automatic transmission control unit. This procedure may vary depending on your vehicle model, so refer to your owner’s manual.
After completing the oil change, check for leaks and test drive the transmission to ensure it is operating properly.
Note: It is recommended to change the oil in the Chevrolet Epica automatic transmission every 60,000-80,000 km. However, the actual replacement frequency may vary depending on the operating conditions of the vehicle.
