Location and replacement of the left automatic transmission drive oil seal on a Chevrolet Cruze

Location:

* The automatic transmission left drive oil seal is located on the left side of the gearbox, where the drive shaft enters the box housing.

Required tools and materials:

* Set of wrenches or ratchets
* Flat head screwdriver
* Transmission sealant
* New left automatic transmission oil seal

Replacement procedure:

1. Ensure safety: Place the vehicle on a level surface, apply the parking brake and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the wheel: Remove the left front wheel to access the oil seal.
3. Disconnect the drive shaft: Using a wrench or ratchet, remove the nut on the end of the left drive shaft. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the drive shaft away from the transmission.
4. Clean the surface: Clean the surface around the oil seal from dirt and deposits.
5. Remove the old oil seal: Using a flat head screwdriver, carefully pry and remove the old oil seal from the transmission housing.
6. Install the new seal: Apply a small amount of transmission sealant to the outer edge of the new seal. Carefully press the new oil seal into the transmission housing, using a rubber mallet or wood block to press it into place.
7. Install Drive Shaft: Insert the drive shaft into the transmission housing and tighten the nut on the end of the shaft.
8. Tighten the nut: Tighten the nut to the specified torque in your vehicle repair manual.
9. Install the wheel: Reinstall the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts.
10. Connect the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
