Automatic transmission cooling fan Chevrolet Cruze

Location:

The automatic transmission cooling fan is located under the car on the gearbox housing.

Function:

The fan cools the transmission fluid in the automatic transmission (AT), preventing it from overheating. The fluid circulates through the radiator, and the fan provides air flow to remove heat.

Functionality check:

1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
2. Turn on “D” or “R” mode.
3. Go to the car and listen to the sound of the fan. It should turn on and off when the liquid temperature reaches the set values.

Replacement:

If the fan does not work or does not work properly, it needs to be replaced.

Replacement steps:

1. Raise the car on a jack and place supports under it.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Remove the engine screen, if equipped.
4. Remove the crankcase protection.
5. Locate the fan and disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Unscrew the bolts securing the fan to the automatic transmission housing.
7. Remove the fan.
8. Install the new fan in reverse order.
9. Connect the electrical connector.
10. Install the crankcase protection and engine screen.
11. Lower the vehicle and connect the negative terminal of the battery.
