* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Transmission sealant
* Funnel
* Pliers or ratchet wrench
* Oil pan to drain old oil
Steps to change the automatic transmission oil on a Chevrolet Captiva:
1. Preparation:
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to warm up the automatic transmission oil.
* Turn off the engine and place the car in park.
* Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands.
2. Draining old oil:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan located under the car.
* Place the oil pan under the drain plug.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug using pliers or a ratchet wrench.
* Drain old oil into the oil pan.
3. Replacing the oil filter:
* Remove the automatic transmission pan by unscrewing the bolts around the perimeter.
* Carefully remove the old oil filter.
* Install the new oil filter and tighten it.
* Remove and clean the surface of the tray.
4. Installing a new gasket and pan:
*Apply a thin coat of transmission sealant to the new pan gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
* Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts around the perimeter.
5. Filling with new oil:
* Using a funnel, fill in new automatic transmission oil through the dipstick hole.
* Fill in the amount of oil recommended by the manufacturer (usually about 6-8 liters).
* Install the dipstick and check the oil level.
6. Completion:
* Start the engine and change gears to pump in new oil.
* Check the oil level again and add if necessary.
* Remove the vehicle from the supports and lower it to the ground.
Note: To ensure optimal performance and service life of the automatic transmission, it is recommended to change the oil and filter regularly (approximately every 40,000 km).
