Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission solenoid
* Set of keys or ratchets
* Transmission housing gasket
* Transmission fluid
* Screwdriver set
* Rags

Replacement procedure:

1. Safety first. Make sure the vehicle is in park, the transmission is in park, and the ignition key is removed.
2. Raise the car. Raise the front of the vehicle using jacks and securely support it on jack stands.
3. Drain the transmission fluid. Unscrew the fluid drain bolt from the gearbox housing and drain the fluid into a prepared container.
4. Remove the gearbox housing. Unscrew the crankcase mounting bolts and carefully remove it. Be careful as there may be some transmission fluid left in the crankcase.
5. Locate the solenoid. The solenoid is usually located at the rear of the transmission. Locate the electrical connector and disconnect it.
6. Unscrew the solenoid. Use a suitable wrench or ratchet to loosen the solenoid mounting bolt. Remove the solenoid from the transmission housing.
7. Clean the seat. Clean the solenoid seat on the transmission of any foreign matter.
8. Install a new solenoid. Insert the new solenoid into the seat and tighten the mounting bolt.
9. Connect the electrical connector. Connect the electrical connector to the new solenoid.
10. Replace the crankcase gasket. Install a new gasket onto the transmission housing and tighten the housing bolts.
11. Fill with new transmission fluid. Fill the gearbox with as much fluid as was drained. Use the transmission fluid recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
12. Lower the vehicle. Lower the vehicle to the ground and remove the jack stands.
13. Check the fluid level. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Turn off the engine and check the fluid level. If necessary, add fluid to the recommended level.

* When replacing the solenoid, always replace the crankcase gasket.
* After replacing the solenoid, it is necessary to reset the automatic transmission adaptive values. This can be done using an OBD-II scanner.
*If you do not have experience repairing automobiles, it is recommended that you have a qualified mechanic perform this procedure.
